Benefit Corporation

We are a benefit corporation!

Sonoma-USA is a brand of TekTailor, Inc., which we incorporated as a for-profit Benefit Corporation:  a new legal tool that allows businesses to create a solid foundation for long-term mission alignment and value creation. By choosing to start our new business as a Benefit Corporation we are baking our mission and vision into the DNA of our company structure from the very beginning. Besides manifesting our beliefs and goals to do good – not just for our shareholders but all stakeholders involved – we also protect the future of our mission through potential capital raises or leadership changes.

B Corp – B the Change!

In addition to incorporating our business as Benefit Corporation, we are also working hard to become a certified B Corp. Since we are a start-up and haven’t been in business long enough to complete the full certification process, we are currently operating under a B Corp Certified PENDING status and aim to complete our full certification process by the beginning of 2017.

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Currently there are more than 1,600 certified B Corps spread across 47 countries and 130 industries, all in support of one unifying goal: using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

We look forward to contributing to the economic and environmental vitality of Sonoma County and are thrilled to be joining a thriving community of existing local B Corps here in the North Bay – here are a few examples:

We envision a global economy that uses business as a force for good.

This economy is comprised of a new type of corporation – the B Corporation – which is purpose-driven and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just the shareholders.

As B Corporations and leaders of this emerging economy, we believe:

  • That we must be the change we seek in the world.
  • That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.
  • That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.
  • To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.
